The family of a two year old says the toddler was rushed to the hospital after nearly drowning in a pool in northeast El Paso on Tuesday afternoon.
Jessica Rodriguez, the two-year-old’s aunt, says the family had gathered at Queens Mobile Home Park on Sun Valley to swim . She says her sister noticed her daughter floating in the water with bubbles coming out of her mouth. That’s when they called 911.
Rodriguez says her niece was taken to Sierra Providence Northeast in serious condition. The family says they were extremely concerned because the girl has heart problems. The two-year-old is expected to stay at the hospital overnight.
Rodriguez urges parents to stay vigilant and alert when children are playing in pools. “Never take your eyes off of your child when they’re in the pool cause you never know what could happen. Just like we never knew this was going to happen to my niece,” says Rodriguez.
She says the family is still in shock and that this incident has changed the way they plan to visit pools in the future.
