A woman was shot in the neck by her husband at a Central El Paso home Wednesday night, according to El Paso Police.

Investigators were called to St. Johns Dr. shortly after 8 p.m., near Trowbridge Dr.

An EPPD spokesman identified the victim as Maria Piñeda, 39. Her husband, Michael Iglesias, 46, was taken into custody, police said.

Police said the victim called 911, herself, after being shot. The department spokesman said she underwent surgery and is expected to survive.

Investigators blocked off the area around the home and told KTSM to expect the area to remain closed off for several hours.
