EPPD: SWAT responding to a person barricaded inside Northeast home

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) —

UPDATE:

A 41-year-old man is in the hospital after he barricaded himself in a mobile home in Northeast El Paso.

The incident started around 10 p.m. Thursday.

SWAT Situation in Northeast El Paso

Police say they responded to reports of a man in the parking lot with a knife.

When they arrived, police say, he retreated into a near by mobile home and barricaded himself inside.

SWAT was then called to the scene.

According to police, they attempted to get him to come out, but the man began cutting and stabbing himself in the neck.

Investigators say that’s when SWAT entered the home and took him into custody.

Police say he was then taken to a local hospital and placed under an emergency detention order.

He remains in critical but stable condition.

Police tell us that man was wanted on an outstanding warrant for criminal trespassing for a prior documented trespass.

El Paso police are responding to a person barricaded inside a home at the Don Quixote Mobile Estate in Northeast El Paso.

That’s happening on Grouse road near the intersection of McCombs and Sun Valley.

According to police, SWAT is on their way to the scene.
