EPISD Offers Bus Service to Community Meetings on Possible School Closures

El Paso ISD will begin holding community meetings to discuss possible school closures with the Board of Trustees on Monday evening.

The meetings are set for 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.on Monday June 18 and Tuesday June 19 at the EPISd Professional Development Center on Boeing, 6500 Boeing.

The district is providing bus service for people who do not have transportation to and from the meeting. Buses for those who need them will leave each of the impacted schools at 5:30 p.m. and will return from the meeting at 7:45 p.m.

The District also updated the timeline for the potential school closures.

The proposed closures for the 2018-19 school year are Beall, Moye and Schuster elementary schools. The proposed closures for the 2019-20 school year are Alta Vista, Hawkins, Rivera and Rusk elementary schools.

The schools previously announced as closures for the 2020-21 school year were taken off the list since their consolidation already was approved through the Bond 2016 program.

The Board of Trustees is scheduled to vote on the budget and the proposed closures during its meeting on Thursday, June 21.
