El Paso woman killed in deadly crash on US 54 in New Mexico

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – A 55-year-old woman from El Paso was killed on Monday morning in a crash on U.S. 54 in Lincoln County, New Mexico.

Gail F. Cornwell was driving a 2003 Hyundai car south on U.S. 54 when for an “unknown reason” the car crossed the northbound lane and hit a 2004 Ford F-350, towing a trailer, head-on, according to a news release from the New Mexico State Police. The accident happened at about 12:08 a.m. 

Cornwell died at the scene and the driver of the Ford and a passenger had injuries that were treated on the scene, police said. 

There were two passengers in the Hyundai, a 54-year-old man and a 48-year-old man. The 54-year-old was not hurt, while the 48-year old was treated on the scene.
