El Paso DA drops charges in Duranguito case

El Paso News

The El Paso County District Attorney’s Office has dropped all charges against an activist arrested during the unexpected start of demolition in the Duranguito neighborhood last year.

Victoria Quevedo was taken into custody last September after crews damaged six buildings in the early morning hours.

Quevedo’s defense committee tells KTSM the charges of interference with public duty and obstruction of a highway passageway were dropped just two days before the case was supposed to go to trial.

As we’ve reported, preservationists have been battling the City of El Paso over it’s plans to build the proposed downtown arena in the historic neighborhood.
