Eaton Manufacturing to make its way to El Paso

The Borderplex Alliance, The City of El Paso, and The County of El Paso announced Eaton, a worldwide power management company is opening a manufacturing operation in El Paso.

Eaton’s growth in El Paso is expected to bring 200 jobs in the span of 7 years paying the current median county wage of $13.50 or more an hour. 

Eaton plans to open a design and manufacturing operations center for switchboard and motor control components in Northwest El Paso, investing $15.7 million on land, facility, and machinery. 

The U.S.  plant will compliment an existing facility located in Cd. Juarez. 

Proposed incentives to get Eaton to El Paso include:

  • Property tax rebate 75%, 75% of the city’s portion of ad valorem incremental property taxes, 7 year grant period capped at $269,986
  • Construction materials sales tax rebate: one time rebate of the city’s 1% portion of sales taxes levied on project related construction materials and capped at $10,000
  • Building and planning permit fee rebate: one time rebate of project related building and planning permit fee, capped at $10,000
  • Skills training grant: $290,909 for costs associated with training materials, training equipment, monthly training classes, certifications and trainer salaries with the total proposed incentive not to exceed $580,896
