Eastlake High School student, man killed in crash near Horizon

Two people, including an Eastlake High School student, have died in a crash near Horizon Wednesday night.

The two-vehicle wreck happened at about 9:40 p.m. at the intersection of Horizon and Bowdoin.

According to a news release, Penelope Jauregui, 16, and Hugo Davalos, 30, were killed while four others were injured.

Officials say one of the vehicles was traveling south on Horizon when it ran a red light and hit the other vehicle.

According to Socorro ISD, grief counselors will be available at Eastlake High School.

The investigation continues.


Six people are in the hospital this morning following a Wednesday night crash in Horizon City.

The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office confirmed a two-vehicle crash happened around 9:40 p.m. on Feb. 6 on Horizon Boulevard and Bowdoin Drive. 

Deputies told KTSM four people were taken to the hospital with serious injuries and the other two people have life-threatening injuries.

The Sheriff’s Special Traffic Investigators unit and crime scene investigators were on the scene

The area has since reopened to traffic.
