Boyd Elder, the West Texas artist known for creating several of the iconic Eagle’s album covers, has died at 74.
The death was confirmed by his daughter, Shaula Elder, on Facebook Saturday. Friends have taken to his Facebook page to say goodbye ever since.
According to Marfa Public Radio, Elder was born and raised in El Paso, but spent a large part of his youth in Valentine, which he romanticized, lived and died.
He was responsible for the Their Greatest Hits cover and the One of These Nights cover.
Earlier this year, Texas Monthly wrote a piece on him titled, “Boyd Elder Is the Most Famous Artist You’ve Never Heard Of.”
