The 2018 StreetFest will indeed return to Downtown El Paso – it just won’t be when you expect it.
The summertime staple will be moving dates to Friday, Oct. 5 and Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018. Organizers 95.5 KLAQ and Destination El Paso opted to move the festival to the fall in order to take advantage of El Paso’s mild fall temperatures.
The SteetFest’s fall date also means the Downtown festival season will be packed through mid-October. Chalk the Block will round out the season Oct. 12 through 14, 2018.
“As downtown changes, we are happy that the Street Festival is changing as well. Recent improvements to the area including Southwest University Park and the new Streetcar System has created an opportunity for festival producers to adjust our original layout. However, StreetFest will keep the tradition of bringing the community together with music, entertainment, food, and fun in the streets of downtown, with just a little bit of a new look, new date, as well as new streets to party on,” Brad Dubow, General Manager of Townsquare Media said.
The StreetFest is typically held in June, but the scorching summer heat has proven problematic for festival organizers in recent years.
“We are excited to bring the festival downtown in October when temperatures are cooler in the Sun City. As festival producers, our main goals are to provide a fun, welcoming atmosphere and memorable experiences for guests, as well as to showcase our culturally rich border city to locals and visitors,” said Bryan Crowe, General Manager of Destination El Paso.
Concert-goers can expect additional information on the festival’s new layout, tickets and artists in the upcoming months.
