Deadly crash on Montana, near Hueco Tanks Road

UPDATE: State Troopers said that a 19-year-old man from El Paso was driving on the wrong side of the road when he struck another car head-on in a deadly crash Monday morning.

Miguel Angel Talmantes was killed after a crash that happened at about 1 a.m. on U.S. Highway 62/180 in Hudspeth County, just 22 miles East of El Paso.

Talmantes, who was driving a 2007 Ford Taurus, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The car he hit, a 2014 Toyota Tundra pickup truck, was driven by Edgar Edwardo Nava, 37, of Anthony, Texas. Nava was taken to Del Sol Medical Center with incapacitating injuries. 

ORIGINAL: One person was killed in a two-car accident on Montana Ave. this morning in Hudspeth County.

The accident happened at about 1:02 a.m. at the Hueco Tanks Road intersection, past Montana Vista.

The crash is being investigated by the Texas Department of Public Safety and the names of those involved has not been released.

Both eastbound and westbound traffic are blocked because of the collision, DPS said.

A photo from KTSM viewer Joel Gomez shows a four-door pickup truck and a white car were involved in the crash.
