One person was killed Monday morning in a two-vehicle accident on Interstate 10 between Fort Hancock and Sierra Blanca.

The accident involving a “passenger vehicle and a pick-up truck” was reported at around 5:41 a.m. on I-10 East near Mile Marker 88, which is just past the Traveling Tiger Center Truck Stop at Exit 87, said Lt. Elizabeth Carter, a Department of Public Safety spokeswoman.

One person was dead on the scene and another was taken to Del Sol Medical Center with unknown injuries. Their names are not available until their next of kin have been notified, Carter said.

The right lane has been closed as the crash is investigated and the Texas Department of Transportation is assisting with traffic, Carter said.
