According to the Drug Enforcement Agency of El Paso, they have learned of an increase of fake oxycodone pills being sold by street dealers in the area that are actually fentanyl laced pills.

The pills, which appear to have the same markings as legitimate oxycodone pills, are actually fentanyl according to investigators.

Fentanyl is an extremely potent synthetic opioid that is 50 to 100 times stronger than morphine. It is odorless and unintentional exposure can be fatal.

As always, the DEA reminds the public that purchasing pharmaceuticals from street dealers is dangerous, because purchasers cannot know whether a pill is counterfeit or not.
