County Judge Candidates Face Off

El Paso News

The two candidates on the ballot for the County Judge seat participated in a forum in Downtown El Paso Tuesday evening.

The two familiar faces in the Democratic Runoff, Former El Paso Mayor John Cook and businessman Ricardo Samaniego, participated in the “Pints and Politics” forum at the Indigo Hotel.

KTSM caught up with both candidates who detailed their plans if elected.

“I want to get back to basics for the county and they are building and maintaining a courthouse building and maintaining a jail building and maintaining bridges and roads and highways,” Cook said.

As for Samaniego, fiscal responsibility is at the top of his list. “I’m going to bring this city and the county together and I’ll figure a way to make it go further than we have and more than anything fiscally responsible.”

The Texas primary run-off election is next Tuesday. Early voting runs through Friday, May 18.
