A Coronado High School student was hit by a car near campus on Friday morning.
An El Paso Independent School District spokesman said the student received minor injuries and the driver of the vehicle was given a citation for not yielding to a pedestrian.
Police recently launched a new Pedestrian Safety Campaign, where the department is urging drivers and pedestrians to be more aware of their surrounds and careful on the road.
The names of those involved in the accident were not released.
