Closures caused by El Paso’s windy weather

Here is a list of closures and postponements caused by Wednesday’s windy weather. 

This list will update as more closures are announced.

Greater El Paso Landfill and Drop-off sites 

The landfill at 2300 Darrington Road and CCS locations will be close to ensure the safety of ESD customers and employees due to the weather. 

The landfill will resume normal operating hours on Thursday, April 11 should weather permit. The Greater El Paso Landfill is normally open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Saturday. Citizen Collections Station will resume normal operating hours Wednesday. The CCS is normally open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

Dunes Drive at White Sands National Monument

This closure will extend into Thursday, April 10 until the road is deemed safe for travel.  At this time, we have no estimated time of reopening.

Currently, the monument’s visitor center and gift shop remain open to the public.

After-school activities

The District 1-5A and 2-5A track and field meets have been postponed.

EPISD, SISD, YISD and Clint ISD have also canceled their outdoor after-school activities for the day.
