A local car club has been spreading holiday cheer for the last ten years raising money to brings smiles to children and their families.
After raising money from car shows, the Early Times Street Car Association randomly picked a school to donate gifts to the students.
This year it is Hacienda Heights International School, 7530 Acapulco Ave. The principal provides a list of families who could use the extra help this season.
Association members make sure to buy clothes and toys for the students and their siblings. Their parents get a $150 gift card to buy a holiday meal as well as a box full of household items.
Some parents have lost a job and others are taking care of someone who is ill.
“It’s tough for these families. Once these presents are taken to them they can forget about their struggles,” said Maria Aguilar, principal at Hacienda Heights International School.
The children also get a chance to take pictures with all the classic cars.
“It’s pulls at your heart strings,” said Luis Cervantes, a member of the Early Times Street Car Association.
The school also has another program that provides gift to students. It’s called the “Charlie Brown Giving Tree” anyone who wants to help out can call the school to find out how to donate.
