Some local brothers are on a mission to rebuild and restore a fallen officer memorial in Northeast El Paso.
Christopher and Eloy Serna’s father is memorialized there.
“He was a rolemodel,” Christopher Serna said. “I was six-years-old when I heard the news he passed away.”
Their father’s name, Ernesto Serna, is etched into stone memorialized forever at the Chuck Heinrich Memorial.
“It hits home everytime,” Eloy Serna said. “When you come out during Police Week, we see famlies and we have a special bond.”
The brothers have taken on caring for the memorial along with the El Paso Municipal Police Officers Association. Each engraved name meaning the world to so many.
Christopher and Eloy Serna stepping into their father’s boots, now they are also serving as El Paso Police officers.
