EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – The Balmorhea State Park announced last week that the pool would be closed until a draining gate could be repaired.

“In preparation for the annual pool cleaning, the gate that drains the pool became inoperable in the open position,” the park posted on it’s Facebook page on May 3. “Due to the danger this poses to swimmers and divers, the pool must be closed until the gate is repaired.”

The park posted that it would update information as soon as possible but has only posted a standing message on its website for the time being.

“The pool is closed for repairs and no reopening date has been set,” the website reads.

The Balmorhea pool is one of the tourist attractions of the park. It allows for recreational swimming and scuba diving. It had been closed for nine months while structural damage to the pool’s wall was repaired.
