Albuquerque dad attacks referee on camera during youth football game

El Paso News

A tense moment in a youth football game ended when a parent attacked the referee by tackling him to the ground.

The Albuquerque Police Department was asked about incidents like this, a spokesman said it is becoming more common. See the report above by KRQE for more.

Meanwhile, last week KTSM reported an El Paso soccer referee was attacked during a game as well.

In Texas, there is a lack of referees for youth and high school games. And even though El Paso was an exception, attacks like these add more concerns for refs.
