The installation of a new public art piece near the El Paso International Airport will force the overnight closure of Northbound lanes on Airway Boulevard between Boeing Drive and Convair Road beginning July 9.

The closure will last 11 days, from July 9 to July 20, between the hours of 7 p.m. and 4 a.m.

The art piece, titled “El Paso Passage,” by artist Bill FitzGibbons, will be a lighted art piece located beneath the overpass near the airport and is part of the airport’s overall landscape improvement project.

The remainder of the construction project is expected to get underway in late summer.
