El Paso drivers are paying the highest average price for a regular gallon of gas in all of Texas, according to AAA data.

Right now the average price of gas in the Sun City is $2.95 per gallon of regular gas. That’s eleven cents more than a week ago when the average was $2.84. That’s also the greatest week to week difference recorded by AAA Texas, looking at metropolitan areas in the Lone Star State.

A year ago El Paso’s average was only $2.28 per gallon. The current state average is $2.63 per gallon, while the national average is $2.84 per gallon.

According to AAA Texas, San Antonio and Sherman/Denison are paying the least at $2.53 per gallon.

KTSM has been warning you of the steadily increasing prices for months now, one major cause according to experts is an increase in U.S. crude oil prices. Crude oil prices are at the highest levels in three years.

The Energy Information Administration expects prices to remain high nationally through 2018.
