EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – A 59-year-old man was killed Sunday morning in South-Central El Paso when he lost control of his vehicle in a sharp curve, hit a guard rail and concrete barrier and was ejected, El Paso police said.
The crash happened just before 2 a.m. Sunday along the 6700 block of El Paso Drive.
Gabriel Gonzalez Rangel was driving east along El Paso Drive when he did not negotiate a curve. Police say there were no skid marks left before the point of impact, indicating the vehicle drove straight into the guard rail and concrete barrier on the north side of the street.
The driver was not wearing a seat belt and was partially ejected.
The leading factors in the crash, police said, were failure to negotiate a curve and failure to use a seat belt.
