UTEP Basketball Head Coach Rodney Terry announced the signings of two guards from the state of Texas on Thursday. Jesse Zarzuela, a 6-foot-3 playmaker from Houston who can play all guard positions, and Brendan Wenzel, a 6-foot-6 sharpshooter from San Antonio, Texas, will join the Miners for the 2019-20 season, while adding more size at the guard position.
Freshman Efe Odigie registered his first career double-double (13 points, 11 rebounds), while fellow freshmen Nigel Hawkins and Kaosi Ezeagu made their first career starts. But Arizona (3-0) powered past UTEP (1-2), 79-46, on Wednesday night in the McKale Center.

The New Mexico State men's basketball team was able to pull within 55-48 of Saint Mary's with 7:17 remaining, but ultimately fell to mid-major power Saint Mary's 73-58 at home Wednesday night in the Pan American Center.
