The department is now accepting applications for its 127th class of police trainees.

Officials say the academy will begin on January 20, 2020, with written and job simulation exams scheduled for June and July 2019.

According to the department’s website, the 30-week training period teaches criminal law, report writing, principles of investigation, defensive tactics, firearm training, and police vehicle operations.

Selected candidates will earn from $16.60 to $24.04 per hour, according to the city.
