Photos of the eight-year-old boy who died in U.S. custody at a New Mexico hospital have been released.
Guatemalan officials identified the boy as Felipe Gomez Alonzo.
Alonzo was in Border Patrol custody with his father for eight days until he died on Christmas Eve at a hospital in Alamogordo.
The cause of his death is under investigation as is the death of another Guatemalan child, 7-year-old Jakelin Caal who passed earlier this month,
Felipe and his father left Guatemala on December 14 and were detained four days later.
The boy’s father says he did not show signs of illness until Christmas Eve.
