Teens charged for allegedly breaking into, stealing from Ascarate pool

Two teenagers are in jail in connection with a July burglary at the Ascarate Park pool.

According to a news release, a boy and girl, both 13 years old, allegedly entered the pool house during the overnight hours of July 7. 

The pair allegedly damaged equipment and stole about $700.

According to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, the girl was also among seven juveniles accused of breaking into the Ascarate Park toll booth just five days earlier.

As KTSM previously reported, those same suspects from the toll booth burglary were also seen in the viral video of the police confrontation in South Central El Paso on July 5. 

The video, which received millions of views, showed the children heckling an officer as he detained a teenager. The officer then pointed his gun at the group.

According to the release, surveillance from the toll booth incident and the viral video helped authorities identify the suspects.

The two teenagers were charged with Burglary of Building.Their names and mugshots will not be released due to their age.
