Shots fired in Far East El Paso neighborhood and subject barricaded in home

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) – An armed suspect at a home in Far East El Paso neighborhood, the El Paso Polie Department said. 

Officers responded to shots fired call before 3 p.m. in the 3300 block of Tierra Yvette Lane. Police arrived at the scene with the subject barricaded in a house.

The suspect was taken into custody, police said. No one was taken to the hospital, the El Paso Fire Department said. 

An officer on the scene told KTSM they are still investigating the incident. 

Two SISD school’s were on lockdown during the standoff. 

“SPC Rafael Hernando III Middle School and Sgt. Roberto Ituarte Elementary were placed on lockdown this afternoon out of an abundance of caution when administration received information about suspicious activity near the campus,” SISD said in a recorded phone. “Every safety concern is taken seriously. EPPD and district police are setting up a perimeter to release students. Thank you for your continued trust and support of Ituarte Elementary, Hernando Middle School and Team SISD!”
