Police have released the name of the suspect who led officers on a chase through the Lower Valley last week and the officer who fired his weapon during a stop.

Alejandro Novela-Delarosa, 50, was arrested on suspicion of evading arrest at about 2:55 a.m. on Jan. 24.

Police said he was seen lurking around a library on Alameda, so they pulled him over in a Walmart parking lot in the 9400 block of Alameda. During the stop, Officer Mizrahaim Delgado fired his weapon but no one was injured.

Novela-Delarosa allegedly fled the scene, led police on a chase, crashed into an ambulance and crashed near Speaking Rock, where the chase ended.

Police are still investigating the case, but no one sustained gunshot injuries as a result.
