A homicide investigation is underway after a man was killed in Fabens on Tuesday evening.

The man was found unresponsive by El Paso County Sheriff’s Office deputies after 6 p.m. in the 100 block of SW River St.

The man was taken to an area hospital where he died. He has been identified as Roberto Cordero, 57, but the Sheriff’s Office did not say what injuries caused his death.

“Upon arrival, deputies observed a group of individuals causing a disturbance and an unconscious person laying on the floor,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.

The Sheriff’s Office Major Crimes Unit is investigating the death as a homicide and has identified a person of interest, however, no arrests have been made.

No other information has been released. This is a developing story and KTSM will update this story as more becomes available.
