The man accused of shooting and killing a former KLAQ DJ is set to go on trial Tuesday morning.
Leonel Hernandez is facing murder charges in connection with the death of Richard Madrigal in June 2016. His trial will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the 168th District Court with Judge Marcos Lizarraga.
Madrigal, who was 33 at the time, was best known as a radio host but was a local tourism manager at Destination El Paso at the time of the shooting. He was found dead inside his Westside apartment by a friend who was concerned when he did not answer his phone.
Leonel Hernandez was later arrested by the El Paso Police Department.
Police also arrested Marinda Palacios on suspicion of failure to report a felony.
At the time of her arrest, police said she knew about the murder and did not call the police. She has a status hearing set for March 27.
