Man shot in the legs by El Paso Police after allegedly pulling knife on them


The man who was shot by police on Christmas night was struck in the legs, according to an El Paso Police Department news release.

Luis Angel Hernandez, 25, was shot following a domestic dispute call on Tuesday night by two officers in the 500 block of Huerta.

He was taken to University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries but is expected to be released and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on charges of aggravated assault against a public servant.

Meanwhile the two officer have been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation by the Texas Rangers and the department’s Shooting Review team, which is standard procedure.

The two officers have both been on the force for a year and three months at the Central Regional Command.
