A man will spend six months in jail and another 10 years on probation after pleading guilty to hitting a local DJ with a truck last year.

According to court records, Pedro Manuel Reyes pleaded guilty on Tuesday to an accident involving serious bodily injury and unauthorized use of a vehicle. Both charges were in connection with a hit-and-run accident that happened on Aug. 5 in an alley next to Dewey’s Corner Pub, 812 Piedras St.

A security camera showed a truck driven by Reyes smashing Christian Swift Ortiz, known as DJ Swift, against another vehicle and then leaving the scene.

The incident was featured in the local media as law enforcement searched for Reyes. The vehicle was eventually traced back to V&E Customs and then to Reyes, according to a previous story.

The collision left Ortiz with several injuries including a collapsed lung and lacerated liver.

He has since recovered from his injuries and has continued to perform at Dewey’s.
