Man fell out of moving vehicle on I-10, causing shutdown: El Paso Police

Crime

A 23-year-old man was killed when he fell out of a moving vehicle Thursday morning, causing Interstate 10 to be closed for several hours.

Andres Reyes Carrasco was in a 2006 Pontiac G6 that was going East on I-10 with Christian Anthony Chavez, 20, a news release from the El Paso Police Department said.

Police said the two were arguing at the moment and at some point around Downtown, Carrasco fell out of the vehicle and was hit by other vehicles.

“A final determination as to who the actual driver of the vehicle was at the time of the incident is pending further investigation,” the news release said.

Police said that Chavez reversed the vehicle after the accident and may have also hit Carrasco, who died at the scene.

Chavez was arrested at the scene on suspicion of DWI and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on a $10,000 bond.
