Man accused of sexually assaulting daughter arrested at Ysleta Port of Entry

A Mexican man accused of sexually assaulting his own daughter is in custody after Border Patrol agents captured him allegedly attempting to cross the border illegally on Tuesday.

According to a news release, agents arrested Rusbel Zamorano-Calderon, 39, after they found his footprints near the Ysleta Port of Entry.

Officials say an investigation revealed that Zamorano-Calderon had been previously deported and had an outstanding warrant for three counts of rape of his 15-year-old daughter in Tennessee.

Agents also found a restraining order in place to protect the daughter, according to the release.

Officials say Zamorano-Calderon will be placed in custody of the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office where he will await extradition to Polk County Sheriff’s Office in Tennessee to face the rape charges.

“This most recent arrest serves as another prime example of the importance of maintaining vigilance along our nation’s borders, and the important role that Border Patrol Agents play in helping keep our communities safe,” a Border Patrol spokesperson wrote in a news release.
