Jail records show a Franklin High School teacher was arrested and charged on suspicion of having an improper relationship with a student.

Court records show the El Paso Police Department arrested Jaime Alonso Arias on Nov. 14. Arias is an art teacher at Franklin and a former football coach, an El Paso Independent School District spokesman said.

Jail logs show Arias was booked into the El Paso County Jail on a $50,000 bond, and he posted bail the following day, Nov. 15.

In a statement, EPISD said the District restricted his access to students as soon as it was informed of the investigation and is taking appropriate disciplinary action.
