The FBI is investigating after an act of vandalism was reported at West El Paso’s St. Patrick Cathedral on Sunday night.

According to the El Paso Fire Department, crews responded to a call of a fire, which they did not find upon arrival.

Witnesses reported “individuals acting suspiciously” around the building during the early morning hours. Investigators say they may have broken a window.

No other damages were reported, according to the fire department.

The El Paso Diocese released the following statement:

We can confirm that an act of vandalism took place at St. Patrick Cathedral last night. There is currently an active investigation by the FBI. We will defer all further questions and comments to the FBI.
