Fabens teacher arrested for alleged improper relationship with student

A Fabens High School teacher has been arrested on suspicion of an improper relationship with a student, the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office said.

Joanna Atilano, 38, was arrested on Jan. 28 following an investigation by the Sheriff’s Major Crimes Unit. Investigators “developed probable cause and obtained a warrant,” a news release said.

She was booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility on a $10,000 bond. 

No other information is available at this time as the investigation is ongoing, the Sheriff’s Office said.
