A Fabens High School teacher allegedly exposed herself on a video call with a student and had tried to kiss and grope him in a classroom, according to court documents.

Joanna Atilano, 38, was arrested last week by the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office on suspicion of an improper relationship with a student.

A complaint affidavit said that deputies were informed by the school’s principal that they were made aware of the alleged inappropriate conduct.

The grandmother of the student showed deputies a video, recorded from Facebook Messenger, of Atilano allegedly showing her breast to the student, documents said.

When deputies met with the student, they learned that Atilano allegedly asked to call him at about 11 p.m. on Jan. 16. She called him on Facebook Messenger and during the call, she told the student she was “afraid they would get caught talking and wanted to make sure nobody knew they were talking,” documents said.

During the call, she also allegedly asked to see his penis and when he did not, she allegedly went into a closet and showed her breast.

The student added that in November 2018, he received a message from the teacher asking him to come to her classroom and when he arrived Atilano allegedly “tried kissing him and placed her hand over his penis,” the affidavit said.
