Fabens man arrested by DPS Troopers after foot pursuit

A 25-year-old Fabens man was arrested after a brief foot pursuit by Texas DPS Troopers near Clint Sunday afternoon.

According to DPS, a Trooper attempted to make a traffic stop on I-10 near Clint. During the traffic stop, the driver, identified as Andrew Garcia of Fabens, jumped from the car and fled south into the desert on foot.

The Trooper followed Garcia into the desert and was assisted by U.S. Border Patrol ground and air units and El Paso County Sheriff’s Office Deputies. A short time later, he was taken into custody by law enforcement.

Garcia was arrested and charged with Evading Arrest on Foot and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia along with several outstanding felony drug warrants. Garcia was booked into the El Paso County Detention Center.  His bond was set at $7,750.
