EPPD: Man drove drunk while teen passenger had cocaine, false identifications

Two people are in jail after a traffic stop in West El Paso over the weekend.

According to a news release, the car was traveling on the 2800 block of Mesita at about 11:40 p.m. Saturday when officers pulled it over for not having its headlights on.

Police then discovered that its driver, Fernando Gomez, 23, was drunk and placed him under arrest.

Officials say a passenger, Cynthia Contreras, 19, was later found in possession of 0.2 grams of cocaine and identifying information of three of more people.

Both were booked into the El Paso County Jail. 

Gomez was charged with DWI and Contreras was booked on Possession of Controlled Substance (Cocaine) =<1gram and Fraudulent use/Possession of identifying information charges.
