El Paso SWAT talks suspect into surrendering in Lower Valley

UPDATE: The man who allegedly prompted a SWAT standoff turned himself into officers.

Police said Oscar Martinez, Jr. was wanted for burglary of habitation. He was convinced by police to surrender a little bit after 1 p.m. 

More details on the crime Martinez was wanted for or how the standoff started has not been released. 

ORIGINAL: The El Paso Police Department has said that the SWAT team has been dispatched to a Lower Valley street.

A wanted subjected is barricaded in the 8600 block of North Loop, police said in an alert.

Police have not said who the individual is or what they are wanted for. 

It is also unclear what type of building they are barricaded in.
