Police have made an arrest in the hit-and-run death of a man in Northeast El Paso last weekend.

According to a news release, Jorge Benjamin Meza, 23, of Chaparral was the driver who allegedly hit and killed Juan Manuel Pasillas on the 10300 block of Dyer early Saturday.

As KTSM previously reported, Pasillas, 47, did not have a walking signal when he crossed the intersection of Dyer and Sun Valley.

Police say Meza hit him and immediately drove away. Moments later, a second vehicle ran Pasillas over.

He died at the scene.

KTSM obtained exclusive surveillance footage of the crash from a nearby business.

Officials say the victim was accompanied by two other pedestrians who abandoned him after he was hit.

Meza was charged for Accident Involving Death and booked into the El Paso County Jail under a $15,000 bond.
