Police in Ruidoso arrested an El Paso man on Sunday for allegedly driving drunk and crashing into a power line, causing an outage that lasted for several hours.

According to a news release, Noe Talamantes, 28, reportedly crashed into an electric pole located on the 400 block of Gavilan Canyon Road about 1:30 a.m.

Officials with the Village of Ruidoso say more than 1,000 customers were without electricity for more than 12 hours due to the crash.

Officers later arrested Talamantes on suspicion of DWI.

His passenger, a 38-year-old woman, was taken to Lincoln County Medical Center to treat her minor injuries.
