13 El Paso residents arrested in drug and weapon trafficking bust

A 16-month Texas Department of Public Safety investigation ended with the arrests of 13 El Paso residents.

The investigation targeted Barrio Azteca and Chuco Tango gang members and associates for their involvement in alleged narcotics and weapons trafficking, a news release from the Texas Department of Public Safety said.

Of the 13 arrested, three were already in custody on unrelated criminal charges, DPS said. The bust also yielded 2.13 kilograms of methamphetamines, 169.36 grams of heroin and seven weapons. 

Here are the 10 that were arrested during the investigation:

  • Andrea Garcia, 30
  • Crystal Aguilar, 32
  • Luis Martinez, 30
  • Leslie Ortiz, 24
  • Brenda Moreno, 18
  • Vanessa Meza, 24
  • Amber Norman, 29
  • Paula Riggs, 55
  • Bonnie Hernandez, 30
  • Dashawn Wilkes, 27

These three were already in custody and are now facing new charges. 

  • Ricardo Chavez, 32
  • Jimmy Tinjaca, 33
  • Janet Moreno, 21
