Metro Police responded Friday to a judge’s decision Wednesday to issue a restraining order preventing the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department from forcing officers to work overtime.

“The LVMPD is aware that the District Court granted a temporary restraining order prohibiting the Department from issuing mandatory overtime for Metro officers. We can assure the public that this decision will not impact public safety or the upcoming New Year’s Eve event on the Strip.”

The order for the plaintiff’s motion for a preliminary injunction was issued Wednesday after a review and consideration of the points and authorities on file.

Metro officers had been working mandatory overtime since the 1 October shooting.
