The first ever State of the Northeast Address was presented today by District 4 City Representative Dr. Sam Morgan.
Among the topics discussed, the development of the Metro 31 area, the Angora Loop, and future plans for Cohen Stadium, which Representative Morgan said is costing the City $500,000 a year to maintain without any use.
Morgan told the public that the City is looking into using the zone where the stadium currently sits to build water attractions that could be rented out.
Representative Morgan told KTSM the idea for a State of the Northeast Address came from other local leaders, “I witnessed the State of the City address. I witnessed the State of the County address then I went to UTEP and saw Dr. Natalicio issue the State of UTEP address, boom an epiphany.”
Representative Morgan also mentioned the arrival of new businesses in the Northeast, including another Chik-Fil-A restaurant.
