Although President Trump and congressional leaders reached a short-term deal to reopen the government on Friday, federal employees are still without a paycheck — and local organizations are stepping in to help.
Operation H.O.P.E. is teaming up with the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, County Commissioner Carl Robinson, and other community agencies to host an food giveaway for employees affected by the shutdown.
Employees will be required to bring their federal ID or federal documentation, and are encouraged to bering reusable shopping bags.
The giveway will operate on a first come, first served basis; no registration is required.
The event will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday at the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office headquarters located at 3850 Justice.
