Northeast El Paso water park to open at Cohen site next summer

Community

Northeast El Pasoans will soon have a new place to make a splash.

On Thursday, the City broke ground on the neighborhood waterpark coming to the former Cohen Stadium site.

The facility will include water slides, a lazy river, climbing wall, toddler area, and more.

Although the park will replace the old, beloved stadium, city officials say the new facility will still honor what once stood before.

“We’re not eradicating the Cohen name,” District 4 Representative Sam Morgan said. “The Cohen name is going to be 100 percent woven into everything we do here. This is the Cohen Entertainment District; all the amenities will be tied back to the Cohen name.”

The facility, the first component of a planned redevelopment of the Cohen site, is expected to be completed by next summer.
