A modern new addition is coming soon to a historic building in Downtown El Paso.

Crews will build seven new stories to the W.S. Hills building, which was originally built in 1926 at the corner of East San Antonio and Texas.

According to architects, 28 upscale apartments will occupy four floors while the others will be designated for commercial use.

“This will hopefully make other owners and activate Downtown after 6:00,” Architect Edgar Lopez tells KTSM. “It will bring more invesment (and) more activity, especially restaurants, bars, and businesses that will support living areas.”

Construction is expected to begin this summer with a completion date set for the end of next year.
